CQ the NET, CQ the Net. This is (YOUR CALL-SIGN), and my name is (YOUR FIRST NAME), with the North Port Community Emergency Response Team weekly net. This net meets every Monday at 1900 Eastern Time to help keep Amateur Radio Operators up to date on events and news in the North Port and Sarasota County area.

We operate here on a frequency of 146.535 Mhz Simplex, with a secondary frequency of 146.565 Mhz Simplex should the primary frequency become unavailable.

You do not need to be a member of the any Amateur Radio Club, or a member of the North Port Community Emergency Response Team to participate in this net and all are welcome to join in. This is not an emergency net, however if there is any emergency traffic during the net, please inform net control by saying “BREAK … BREAK” and give your call-sign, and net control will handle your traffic as required.

When checking in, net control asks that you give your call-sign once slowly and then again phonetically and then your name and location. Also, when checking in, please inform net control if you have any announcements. Remember, that to check into our net you “DO NOT” need to be a member of any Amateur Radio Club, or be a member of the North Port Community Emergency Response Team to participate in this net.

When checking in, please key down and say “THIS IS”, or “NET CONTROL”, announce your call-sign then un-key and listen for others. If you don’t hear anyone else doubling, key down and check in. Net control will now take check-ins.

Please call net control (YOUR CALL SIGN) now.

At this point take check-ins and record them in the net log by “CALL-SIGN … NAME … AND LOCATION”. Pause every few check-ins and verify the call-sign, name and location of each check-in. Once all check-ins finish and all have been acknowledged for comments and announcements you may conclude the net.

This is, (YOUR CALL SIGN), (YOUR NAME) and I will now be closing the net at (TIME) and returning the net back to normal use. Net control and the North Port Community Emergency Response Team would like to thank all of you for checking in and would ask you to be here every Monday at 1900 hours. Until then, 73, this is (YOUR CALL SIGN), (YOUR NAME) IN North Port clear.
